The 48th World Economic Forum Annual Meeting took place in the Swiss Alpine resort of Davos-Klosters from 23rd-26th January 2018 and the B.H.M.S. students had the opportunity to participate in this special annual event!
The World Economic Forum is an independent international organization committed to improve the state of the world by engaging business, political, academic and other leaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas.
The B.H.M.S. students visited Davos, along with the school’s director Mr. Beat Wicki, and supported the Chalet Seehof during this World Economic Forum.
The students had the unique experience to show what Swiss hospitality means in the organization and F&B service.
The upscale events were themed differently every evening and hosted up to 300 selected guests. 70 heads of state or government traveled to Davos: The Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi made the opening address on Tuesday 23rd, while the keynote address was given by the US President Donald Trump on the closing day, Friday 26th. The French President Emmanuel Macron gave also a speech on Wednesday 24th.
More than 2'500 leaders from business, international organizations, civil society, academia, media and the arts from over 100 countries participated in that special event and discussed the most pressing issues facing the world.
This year's Annual Meeting theme, “Creating a Shared Future in a Fractured World”, made a case for renewed commitment to international collaboration as a way of solving critical global challenges. With over 400 sessions, the program aimed at engaging leaders in a new shared narrative to improve the state of the world and address today's political, economic and societal challenges.
The students at B.H.M.S. always take advantage of such important events which take place in Switzerland as they gain valuable working experience during their study time.
